Security Case Studies ABBEY MIDDLE SCHOOL This site already had an existing cctv system but it was felt by the school not to be adequate enough in the detection and recognition of unauthorised vehicles and persons on the site. On the front of the school the existing camera offered just an observational view of the general area .The front entrance gate to the school was one of the main concerns for site safety and unauthorised entry to the site. We installed a Sanyo Day/Night Camera on the front of the school in a weatherproof housing complete with a 5 to 50 mm varifocal lens which was able to give a zoomed in view of the front gate. Also on the front elevation of the School we installed a 360 degree pan tilt zoom camera which enabled the school to monitor the whole of the front of the premises. This camera was supplemented with a Redwall detector which was used to detect movement in the carpark and then zoom the camera onto this area. The new cameras were installed onto a new Digital video recorder with a built in hard drive and CDRW. This enables quick search facilities of any recorded events. The DVR was connected to the Site Managers PC to enable viewing of the cameras from a different location. The Site Manager Tony Peck said about the system “The new cameras perform the task we wanted and have provided us with evidence of incidents that have occurred on site”. ICKNIELD HIGH SCHOOL The school had an additional two storey design block added to the school which required a new CCTV system We were asked to install 4 external cameras able to work just as well at night as in the day. All cameras were connected to a dedicated micros 4 way digital video recorder and connected to the school computer network to allow the site Manager to view the cameras from the main school building. The Site Manager Dave Ward said “ We are very happy with the CCTV installation and especially the cameras clear picture at night time” Below we have two still frames taken from the Pc connected to the DVR one picture is taken at 13.11PM and the other is at 03.00 AM as you can see the picture is still clear at night.
